Hippophae rhamnoides can inhibit platelet aggregation. Theoretically, Hippophae rhamnoides fruit extracts may increase the risk of bleeding when used in combination with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.
Hippophae rhamnoides has antiplatelet effects and might cause excessive bleeding if used perioperatively. Discontinue use at least 2 weeks before elective surgical procedures.
Hippophae rhamnoides has hypotensive effects in some patients. Theoretically, Hippophae rhamnoides might increase the risk of hypotension in people prone to this condition. Advise hypotensive patients to use sea buckthorn with caution.
